The 17th RFMF Scientific Days will be held in the heart of Paris, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. This emblematic site of Parisian cultural and artistic life, located in the 6th arrondissement, owes its origins to the founding in 543 of the abbey of Sainte Vincent, renamed the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the 7th century. Its intellectual and spiritual influence throughout the Middle Ages accompanied the development of the village of Saint Germain, one of the first historic districts of Paris. From the 17th century onwards, fairs and markets played host to numerous fairground shows, foreshadowing today's boulevard theater. This astonishing combination of intellectual, commercial and fairground life forged the unique character of this district, where intellectuals, artists and shoppers rub shoulders. After the Revolution, Saint-Germain-des-Prés remained a cultural mecca, where the greatest writers, painters, musicians, actors and scientists of their time met. A spirit of creativity and independence was cultivated in its many cafés, ideal places to meet and exchange ideas, a spirit that endures to this day through the literary prizes awarded there, or the many jazz concerts since the 1950s.

This vibrant heart of Paris is home to the Université Paris Cité. Created in 2019 from the merger of Université Paris Descartes (Paris 5), Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7) and Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP), this multi-disciplinary university is spread over 20 sites and 2 museums. Among these, the Campus Saint-Germain-des-Prés is located in the heart of the 6th arrondissement. It is typical of the architecture of the 50s, with its vast hall, its Grand Amphithéâtre seating over 800, and its monumental staircases. Its bronze doors and medallions were commissioned from the great artists of the period. Throughout the year, the Campus hosts numerous social events (scientific congresses, cultural events, film shoots, etc.). It is close to all major Paris train stations and airports.

This 17th edition of the RFMF Scientific Days will be an opportunity for our dynamic community to cultivate the spirit of German-Pratin encounters and exchanges! The scientific days will be organized around several plenary lectures by internationally renowned researchers, oral presentations, “Flash” communications, thematic sessions and poster sessions. This year, recent developments in metabolomics and fluxomics in the healthcare field will be highlighted on a Campus that trains over 10% of future French doctors every year. To highlight the work of young researchers, oral presentation slots will also be dedicated to them. The Journées Scientifiques will also be a special occasion to reward the winner of the 2025 thesis prize, and to introduce the new RFMF honorary member appointed in 2025, who will be pleased to present a summary of his or her research.
